A curriculum with a purpose
At HMIS, we believe that diverse perspectives lead to out-of-the-box thinking. Through cross-disciplinary projects, you will learn to approach complex issues from various angles, preparing you for the demands of a dynamic economy.
Here, learning extends beyond the classroom. You’ll participate in industry projects, educational trips, and internships, both locally and abroad. Each diploma also includes a Service-Learning component, ensuring your education is both engaging and purposeful.
In your third year, you will have the flexibility to design your own learning journey with options such as a one-year or six-month internship, or cross-disciplinary projects, alongside elective modules. These pathways will shape you into a social connector, equipped to foster inclusivity and collaboration.
For those passionate about giving back, HMIS offers the chance to launch your own social initiatives through our social impact accelerator, The Living Community. With access to seed funding, industry sponsorships, and mentorship, you can bring your ideas to life and make a lasting impact.

Out in the Community
Seniors Go Digital
In a partnership with Chinese daily Lianhe Zaobao, students from the Diploma in Chinese Media & Communication (CMC) helped seniors “go digital” through a series of hands-on workshop. CMC students paired up with close to 60 seniors to help them navigate different mobile apps and shared with them how to better protect themselves from phishing scams. Through these experiences, students were exposed to technical terms in the Chinese language – not only did they get to practise using the terms, they also had the chance to serve our elderly communities!
The Living Community
The Living Community is a social impact accelerator programme by the School of Humanities & Interdisciplinary Studies (HMIS), aimed to empower our students to alleviate social issue, kickstarting their social and community initiatives outside of curriculum.
