CCA Club participation is not compulsory, but there are definitely benefits in joining one. You can pick up a new skill – which can range from sign language and a new sport, to essential life skills such as teamwork and leadership! CCAs will give you a chance to interact with schoolmates from various diploma programmes, so you get to expand your social network. Many students have also discovered hidden talents and developed new interests through joining a CCA Club!
Most of the CCA Clubs in NP are open to all students. For a select group of arts and sports clubs, auditions/try-outs may be held in order to determine an individual’s preparedness to participate in competitions.

To find out whether the CCA Club you wish to join requires an audition or try-out, please write to dept-sdo@np.edu.sg.
Prior experience is not essential for joining a CCA.
Generally, CCA Club activities take place once to twice a week. However, this frequency may increase if members need to prepare for events, competitions and performances.
Your CCA involvement can be recorded in 5 categories: Participation (P), Enrichment (E), Achievement or Representation (AR), Leadership (L) and Service (S). Upon graduation, you will receive a CCA transcript with details of all your records.

Every NP student will graduate with a digital portfolio showcasing his/her strengths and skills. Beyond academic achievements, universities and employers value candidates with soft skills such as leadership, communication and teamwork. You can share the skills gained through your CCA experiences in your digital portfolio, demonstrating the well-rounded experience you have had in NP.
Regular activities (such as trainings and endorsed events) are usually subsidised. However, some activities may require you to pay for the use of personal protective equipment. To find out whether the CCA Club you wish to join involves additional costs, please write to dept-sdo@np.edu.sg.
NP has put in place a rigorous selection process to ensure that our coaches possess the necessary qualifications and appropriate traits for the role. Most of our sports and dance coaches have had years of experience, including having competed professionally in their respective fields. Our coaches have also been briefed to embrace our core values of Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, Integrity, Compassion and Gratitude in their training approach as well as when interacting with our students.
In the major tertiary competitions such as the Polytechnic-Institute of Technical Education (POL-ITE) and Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Games, there is no age cap. In some competitions hosted by the National Sports Associations and other external organisations, age limits may apply for specific competition categories.
Yes, you can, as long as you are able to manage your time well to balance your school and CCA commitments.
Talking to a current member about his/her CCA experience before joining the CCA Club is always a good thing. You can do so by visiting our annual CCA Fiesta!

Alternatively, you may get in touch with the CCA Club via its official email or social media account which can be found here.
