Korea Immersion Programme

Over twenty students led by School of IS lecturers Ms Eom Chanmi Chloe and Ms Ko Tze Yun on the 2019 Immersion Programme visited Seoul to explore the Korean language and culture.

Ngee Ann students experienced a positive sense of motivation as they arrived at the Seoul National University (SNU) for their daily interactive Korean Language classes with local undergraduates. A trip participant, Milan Leo from Diploma in Psychology, treasured her new friendships forged with SNU undergraduates.

An exciting itinerary immersed students in Korean culture through exciting field trips and activities. Students enjoyed an the DMZ (demilitarized zone) trip to view North Korea through telescopes. Music classes enabled students to play장구 Janggu drum instruments while others explored traditional costumes 한복 Hanbok at the Gyeongbokgung palace.

Back in NP, participants hosted a IS glass-pod exhibition “Gapsida Korea” to share intricate processes of making red-bean rice-cakes. An impressive photo-gallery showcased historic palaces and cultural sights. Nurhilda Maya, from Diploma in Arts Business Management, was stationed at a booth featuring the exquisite art of Korean characters.
