Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Centre for Shaping Human First Transformation (SH1F+) works with organisations to enable workforce transformation in response to changing technologies, workforce demographics and regulations, as well as global economic and market forces.
By providing end-to-end consultancy services and training programmes – including leadership alignment, job role redesign, capability building and structured support – we help organisations reshape how work gets done.
Key to SH1F+’s success is its human-first approach, grounded in a deep understanding of human behaviours, upskilling programmes tailored to unique needs, and a high-touch design – all of which focus on what matters most to people throughout the change process.
The result? Real and sustained transformation.
What Sets SH1F+ Apart
We support organisations across the full journey, from their workforce strategy and job redesign to capability building and workforce transition.
We focus on the “people” side of change. This includes defining strategic objectives among the leadership, addressing employee concerns, building confidence in teams through structured coaching and facilitation, etc.
We work alongside organisations to translate plans into daily practice, ensuring change is experienced in the workplace. Bring together HR, business leaders, and technology & innovation teams in a structured, collaborative workshop to co-design workforce transformation strategies. Using our proprietary SHIFT Sandbox methodology, stakeholders explore future scenarios, redesign work, evaluate technology opportunities, and align people, processes, and capabilities to create practical, actionable transformation roadmaps. Our sandbox tool enables companies to transform with confidence by simulating scenarios before full-scale implementation.
We integrate NP’s expertise across human-centred design, organisational development, behavioural science and workplace wellness to enable sustained workforce transformation.

| We establish a clear transformation direction by aligning business priorities, workforce strategy and AI adoption. Using our proprietary Sandbox tool, stakeholders can explore future work scenarios, redesign work, evaluate technology and AI opportunities and co-develop transformation roadmaps. | Work is changing, especially as AI becomes part of everyday tasks and decisions. We engage stakeholders across the organisation to align perspectives, surface insights and build shared ownership of change, supporting the process of embracing change from the outset. | We help organisations take a step back to review how work is organised, how we can grow capabilities, and where adjustments are needed. We redesign roles and ways of working while identifying capability gaps, encouraging a growth mindset as jobs and skills evolve. | People need the right support to adapt with confidence. We translate insights into individual, role-based training plans, and support employees through transition with coaching, manager–staff alignment, and regular check-ins. | We track progress through defined measures, gathering pulse checks and feedback data to refine approaches and sustain transformation outcomes over time. |

Our Transformation Work
Because every organisation is different, each transformation journey is unique. Read about how SH1F+ guides our partners in their workforce redesign and see our human-first edge.

United Overseas Bank – Supporting career transitions through capability development and personalised guidance
The UOB Better U Pivot Programme supports employees moving into new roles within the organisation. By defining transition pathways, delivering structured training programmes and providing personalised coaching and support, SH1F+ enabled employees to acquire the skills, confidence and adaptability to transition effectively into new roles.
On-the-Job Guidance
SH1F+ consultants adopted a personalised and high-touch approach, journeying with employees to contextualise and optimise the knowledge gained from structured training for effective application.
The process includes:
- Identifying individual skill gaps and tailoring training roadmap with structured and bespoke training programmes
- Providing coaching and support as employees handled tasks in their new roles
- Establishing success metrics and tracking of effectiveness to ensure employees achieve the required competencies for the new roles
"Transformation is often more than implementing new technology or changing operating structures; success or failure depends on the skill and will of our people, their ability and motivation to continuously adapt to the changes. As we automate routine tasks and introduce new ways of working, organisations must be committed to supporting employees to acquire new skills and discover growth opportunities. Reskilling offers tremendous value as we retain and leverage the experience and institutional knowledge of our existing workforce."

Murata Electronics Singapore – Strengthening workforce capabilities across ASEAN through structured role design and applied learning
Murata partnered with SH1F+ to strengthen the company’s New Business Architect role across Singapore and the ASEAN region. By defining role expectations, mapping capabilities and embedding structured on-the-job learning, SH1F+ enabled employees to build relevant skills and apply them to meet evolving business needs.
Competency Framework and Skills Mapping
SH1F+ developed a competency framework for the New Business Architect role across Murata’s operations in six countries. This established consistency in role expectations, identified capability gaps, and provided a foundation for workforce development planning.
Work-Based Learning and Capability Building
Through a structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) framework, employees were supported in developing and applying new competencies directly to their work, enabling learning to take place in the context of real business challenges.
Targeted Learning and Development Roadmaps
Building on the competency framework, SH1F+ consultants developed tailored training and development roadmaps to strengthen critical competencies and support long-term professional growth.
"Our partnership with Ngee Ann Polytechnic has enabled Murata Electronics Singapore to redesign roles and develop future-ready New Business Architects across Singapore, and ASEAN and India. By partnering with our employees, HR, reporting managers, and senior leaders, Ngee Ann Polytechnic helped create an enabling ecosystem that supports sustained role transformation beyond individual learning. Through a structured, workplace-based learning model embedded in real business projects, the programme equips our people with future-ready skills and competencies while strengthening our organisation's ability to adapt to evolving industry needs and drive regional business growth."

Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP) – Organisation-wide capability assessment for structured upskilling
TAFEP partnered Ngee Ann Polytechnic through SH1F+ to assess its organisation-wide capability requirements and learning needs. Through engagements with employees and leaders, SH1F+ identified key learning needs and developed targeted recommendations to equip staff with the skills and confidence to adapt to new ways of working and sustain positive change in a fast-changing, AI-driven environment.
Organisation-wide Learning Needs Assessment
SH1F+ studied TAFEP's existing organisational functions, roles and workforce challenges through interviews with management and staff. The study informed recommendations for learning needs that align with strategic priorities.
Targeted Capability Development Plans
To support employees through the transition, SH1F+ consultants conducted skills gap analyses and developed targeted interventions, including on-the-job training (OJT plan) and individual learning plans (ITP), to build the capabilities needed for future success.
"Ngee Ann Polytechnic is supporting TAFEP to conduct an organisation-wide assessment of our capability requirements and learning needs.
