The second edition of the book Those Who Dared continued to capture the success stories of NP alumni entrepreneurs, including those of Secretlab CEO Ian Ang and  Carro co-founder Aaron Tan.

While Those Who Dared 1 profiled close to 50 alumni, the new edition showcased over 130 entrepreneurs, demonstrating how the community has grown over the years.

Besides entrepreneurs from the first edition, Those Who Dared 2 included up-and-coming entrepreneurs such as Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery’s Genevieve Lee and FatFreq’s Ivan Cheong and Aaron Tan.

The book was launched at an alumni homecoming event on 16 November which saw over 120 entrepreneurs returning to NP to celebrate their alma mater’s 20 years of fostering entrepreneurial talent. The event, which also saw the launch of the new Carousell X NP Sustainability Lab and NP Angel Network, was graced by Minister of State for Education and Manpower, Ms Gan Siow Huang.

In his foreword to the book, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing said Institutes of Higher Learning play a key role in inculcating an entrepreneurial spirit in our youth to prepare them for a changing world.

For example, NP’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Office, The Sandbox, helps students realise their entrepreneurial potential through workshops, competitions and funding for student-initiated projects. Students can also pick up hands-on skills and bring their ideas to life at NP’s Makers’ Academy.

He looked forward to seeing more homegrown entrepreneurs emerging in the next decade and beyond.
