NP’s Chinese Studies students design 12 online classes for the elderly

As part of their Chinese Oral Communication module, 46 students from NP’s Chinese Studies designed 12 online classes for 137 seniors from Lions Befrienders, Counselling and Care Centre, St. Luke’s and NTUC Health Home Care Services from December 9 to January 13. The classes covered topics such as mobile applications, gardening, cooking, healthy living and the environment. The students were commended for their enthusiasm and warmth, and they shared it was a good opportunity to interact with the elderly. The service-learning module, which was introduced in 2016, fosters in students a sense of service beyond self and inspires them to become a force for good in the community.
