Borrow
Item for Loan
Borrow physical items via Self-Checkout Terminals on Level 2 with your membership ID.
You will receive an email about your borrowing/return activity at the end of the day. You may also view your loan status and due date in your Library account.

You are unable to borrow if:
- Item is already 'on hold' and awaiting collection by another library member who has successfully reserved it.
- Item is labelled with a Red Dot on the book’s spine, belonging to ‘Recommended Resource’ collection on Level 3, as they are for in-house reference only.
- Accumulated unpaid fines have exceeded the maximum overdue bill limit. Pay your outstanding fines to resume your loan privileges.

M18 Media
Viewers of media rated M18 must be at least 18 years of age.
If you are an NP student younger than 18 years old, you may request to borrow M18 media for academic purposes via an online form for endorsement by your lecturer. Upon endorsement, the item will be processed for retrieval at the Library GO collection locker at the Atrium on Ground Floor (below the Library).
Restricted Access (RA) Media:
Restricted Access media can only be borrowed out of the library premises by staff.
If you are an NP student and wish to view Restricted Media for academic purposes, you may request via an online form for endorsement by your lecturer. Upon endorsement, you may collect the item from Library staff for viewing in the Media Viewing Rooms in Library premises.
The online request form can also be found in the item’s search result at the catalogue.
eBooks can be borrowed via our eBook platform subscriptions.
Users may select between 1 to 14 days for loan. eBooks will be automatically ‘returned’ once the selected loan period is up.

Request & Collect
You may request any item eligible for loan under your membership type & privileges.
To request an item, simply select ‘Place Hold’ for the Item Result in the online Library catalogue.
Your request will be pending while it is being processed. If your request is successful, you will receive an email notification to collect the item.
Items that cannot be requested include:
- Books under ‘Recommended Resource’ collection on Level 3, labelled with a Red Dot on the book’s spine, as they are for in-house reference only
- Restricted or M18 Multimedia
- Equipment
- Accompanying materials (e.g. a learning kit that accompanies a book)
Collecting requested items:
Requests will be processed within 2-3 working days. You will receive an email notification with a QR code when your request is successful and item is ready for collection.
To collect, scan the QR code at the Library GO kiosk reader located at the ground floor of the Atrium at Blk 1 (one level below the library).
Reserved items are available for collection within 7 days. If you no longer want the item, you may let the collection period lapse.
The Library GO! Kiosk is available anytime during NP’s Campus Hours.

Renew
Renew your loans
You may renew borrowed items via your Library account only when your item’s due date is less than 5 days away. If your item is eligible for renewal, a ‘Renew Loan’ button will appear under the Loans section under ‘My Account’.
Note: The Renew Button will not appear if the current date is more than 5 days away from the item's due date.
You are unable to renew an item if:
- Maximum renewal limit has been reached
- The current date occurs earlier than 5 days from item’s due date
- Item is already 'on hold' and awaiting collection by another library member who has successfully reserved it.
- Accumulated unpaid fines have exceeded the maximum overdue bill limit. Pay your outstanding fines to resume your renewal privileges.
Academic staff may request renewals beyond renewal limits for curriculum preparation with endorsement by the School/Division’s Director by emailing us at lib_circ@np.edu.sg.
Return
Return an item
Return your item anytime during Campus Opening Hours at the Library GO kiosk at the Ground Floor of the Atrium (Block 1), located below the Library.
You may also return your item at the Return Machine located at Level 2 within the Library during service hours.
Items Not Returned
You will be alerted via email if any of your borrowed items is approaching its return due date.
Overdue fines will incur for items not returned after their due date.
Items not returned more than 35 days after its due date are considered as lost and will incur lost charges.
