Working at NUH as a therapist assistant gave me insights to the realities of healthcare. That experience, along with the training in my course, strengthened my resolve to pursue medicine.

Shivagiri Nathan Jayan

Studying Pharmaceutical Science showed me that science is ultimately about people. Whether it was exploring herbal remedies or organising first-aid workshops for migrant workers, these experiences reminded me that medicine isn’t just about knowledge – it's about making a difference.

Lucas Chun

Biomedical Science gave me a strong foundation in understanding the science behind human diseases – but it also showed me the kind of purpose healthcare can have. The support from my lecturers and the hands-on lab experience at NP played a huge part in shaping my path toward medicine.

Poong Yoo Min

I wasn't clear about my direction when I first joined NP, but every experience – from my internship to CCAs – helped me grow. The course gave me the clarity and confidence I needed to pursue my passion, and I’m thankful for that journey.

Wong Wei Bin

My passion for healthcare grew during my time at NP. The hands-on lab work, patient-care modules, and a six-month internship at Raffles Hospital deepened my understanding of both the science behind medicine and the human side of healing. I’m grateful for the supportive learning environment, and for the lecturers who shared real-world insights and encouraged us every step of the way.

What Students/Alumni Say

Zenia Tan

During my final year, I had the opportunity to work on a project on the effects of modulating the autophagy-lysosomal pathway in Alzheimer’s Disease. It allowed me to build on my skill sets and apply what I have learnt in class to real world problems. It was such an interesting experience! I will always be grateful for all the opportunities presented to me and the support my friends and NP have given me.

My time in NP allowed me to gain invaluable experiences and opportunities that fuelled my passion for environmental sustainability. The course opened up the doors for me to continue in a 1-year degree program at the University of Plymouth, where my understanding of sustainability and the circular economy grew significantly.  I am currently in the field of environment and sustainability, assisting companies in achieving their decarbonization goals.

Zaleha

LDH has equipped me with the relevant skills and knowledge to kickstart my career in biodiversity conservation. My internship deepened my learning about Singapore’s diverse biodiversity, which has driven me to pursue a career as a flora specialist to advocate for habitat and plant conservation.

Adlin Ilyana Bte Mohammad Haizal

My time in NP was a memorable and fruitful one, thanks to the passionate lecturers and supportive friends. My internship has exposed me to the world of hospital pharmacy and prepared me for university life at NUS, where I am currently pursuing the Degree in Pharmacy (Hons). I aspire to become a pharmacist in the future, providing medication and healthcare support to the patients.

Michelle Yeo

One of my most memorable experiences in NP was being given the privilege to intern at Raffles Hospital where I interacted with and learnt essential skills from experienced pharmacy technicians and pharmacists.

Industry Review

We are excited to partner NP in offering their biomedical science students unique opportunities to participate in various research projects that have translational impact in SGH. These students have assimilated well to our research environment and have shown remarkable enthusiasm in their scholarly pursuit.  We have received numerous positive feedback from their supervisors, such as their inquisitive nature, relentless quest for knowledge and highly openness to feedback from their mentors. We look forward to continued partnership with NP to nurture the next generation of biomedical science graduates.

The Singapore General Hospital (SGH) Pharmacy Division is proud to partner with Ngee Ann Polytechnic (Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science) in nurturing the next generation of pharmacy support workforce. Through internships, collaborative projects, and various academic–industry initiatives, this partnership enriches Pharmaceutical Science students’ learning and provides meaningful exposure to real-world healthcare practice. Impactful Internships

Pandg Khayriya Norhisham

My internship at P&G has expanded my understanding of the R&D industry. The diverse network of skilled professionals has inspired me to enhance my own expertise and contribute. This internship has been an excellent opportunity to put the skills and knowledge I acquired at NP into practice. I now have a deeper appreciation for how the concepts taught in our modules apply in the real world.

Weixi

During my internship, I got to apply fundamental process engineering concepts learned in school into large-scale process operations at Keppel’s Marina East Desalination plant. I went on to extend my learning beyond the classroom with an in-house research internship at the material science research lab. With its emphasis on individual excellence and group-based project management skills, CBE has equipped me with skills and knowledge that are both practical and flexible.

Xylem Chow Pei Xuan

During my final year, I was given the opportunity to intern at Xylem Singapore as the product marketing intern for the SEA marketing team. As an EWT student, I navigated steep learning curves in short time frames in the area of marketing water-related equipment. The cross between engineering and business in my Polytechnic journey led to new discoveries in career aspirations and broadened my learning across different disciplines.

Koh Jia Le

LDH is a unique course due to its hybrid nature. My internship at Gardens By The Bay has allowed me to gain hands-on experience with a variety of responsibilities in both horticulture and landscape design. My role, which ranges from daily maintenance of plants to designing planting schemes for events, provides me with fulfillment in bringing Singapore's focus on greenery to fruition.

Nuhs Tew Chun Hui

My internship at NUHS Clementi Polyclinic was truly enriching. It offered me invaluable hands-on experience with pharmacy systems such as iPharm and EPIC, which are crucial for the smooth operations of the pharmacy. This experience not only boosted my confidence in my professional skills but also stood out as a highlight of my polytechnic studies.

Guinness World Record

A Guinness World Record did not start with a world-class goal, it began with a simple experiment in controlled environment agriculture. Big congratulations to our Landscape Design & Horticulture (LDH) Senior Lecturer, Mr Gregory Chow, for setting a 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 with the 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗸𝗼𝗵𝗹𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶 ever grown, measuring at 2.320m! This incredible achievement, cultivated over 3 years, showcases his dedication, patience, and expertise in hydroponics and indoor agriculture. Check it out here

Scientific Journal

Publish of Project Findings in Scientific Journal

Congratulations to our Biomedical Science students, Olivia Yeo and Odelia Hoi, and Senior Lecturer Dr Shanmugam Neviliappan from LSCT for the publish of their final year capstone project findings in AQUA Culture Asia Pacific journal! Their final year project at the Centre for Aquatic Science and Technology explored how folic acid and eggshell supplements can boost growth and immunity in red swamp crayfish. For Olivia and Odelia, their Final Year Project wasn't just a requirement, but a 'fun and meaningful experience' from start to finish. Their experience taught them that even as students, their research can contribute to something bigger!
