NP’s Office of Service-Learning (OSL) conducts training on how to effectively use the Service-Learning pedagogy. Training is often experiential and can be customised to meet the needs of different schools/organisations. OSL also periodically organises forums, seminars, and conferences to deepen knowledge and challenge thinking.

As a curious engineer, Wan Chin has never stopped questioning assumptions and experimenting with new ideas and technologies. As an avid educator, he firmly believes in harnessing the right teaching and learning tools to fully develop students. Since joining Ngee Ann Poly in 2008, Wan Chin has been involved in many curriculum and pedagogical implementations, including Computer-Aided Engineering, Engineering Design Thinking, and Maker-Centered Learning. Currently, as Deputy Head and Master Trainer in Office of Service-Learning, his responsibilities include Service-Learning training and overseeing Service-Learning implementation in NP’s schools.
Faith has a heart for people and firmly believes that everyone is able to contribute to the community. Her passion for Service-Learning was flamed while teaching for the Diploma in Psychology Studies in NP. She pioneered the use of Service-Learning in the “Behaviour Modification and Intervention” module and led the team to design a five-module integrated Service-Learning project. In 2016, she received the Service-Learning Staff Champion Award for her commitment to initiate and lead in Service-Learning. Faith was also part of the NP research team that conducted the first large scale study of Service-Learning in higher education in Singapore. Currently a Lead Catalyst (Curriculum Design) and Master Trainer in the Office of Service-Learning in NP, Faith previously worked in voluntary welfare organisations, developing programmes in the area of community engagement.
Maode has been in the youth education field for almost 15 years. His passion for Service-Learning first started when he led a group of students on a Youth Expedition Project trip to Sri Lanka in 2008. Witnessing how the experience transformed the youths, he became a strong and avid practitioner of the pedagogy, receiving the S-L Staff Champion Award in 2016 for his commitment to initiate and lead Service-Learning endeavours. Prior to joining the Office of Service-Learning (OSL), Maode was the Course Chair for NP’s Diploma in Business & Social Enterprise. Currently, as Deputy Head and Master Trainer in OSL, his responsibilities include S-L training and overseeing S-L implementation in NP’s schools.
