Course Description

To many Singaporeans, their dog is a precious member of their family. Unfortunately many dog owners are not sure of how to provide their dog with the care it needs. A lack of understanding on how to take care of your dog can lead to unintentional harm. This workshop aims to equip the aspiring and existing dog owners with a good understanding of the basic grooming skills, preventive medicine and nutritional needs of their dogs, and practical skills on how to conduct a general health check on their pet.

Course Outline

At the end of the course, the applicant will be able to:

  • Perform scene and behavioral assessment of the pet
  • Perform basic health check on your dog
  • Learn the nutritional needs of your dog
  • Understand the importance of preventive medicine
  • Acquire knowledge on the rules, regulations and licensing requirements of having a pet dog in Singapore

  • This course will be delivered in Englis​h and has NO assessment.

    Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance.

Full course fee


Singaporeans aged 50 years and above who wish to apply for the course at the special course fee will need to email a copy of their NRIC during the course fee payment before the course commencement.

Course fee is payable upon acceptance. It is inclusive of 7% GST and subject to review.

Trainer's Profile

​​Dr Grace Lim Rou'en

Dr. Grace Lim graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Melbourne in 2006. Following graduation, she returned to Singapore to begin work as a small animal veterinarian for three years and later joined the Singapore Institute of Clinical Sciences (SICS) at the Agency of Science and Technology (A*STAR) for three years as a research veterinarian working primarily with non-human primates. In 2013, Dr. Lim joined the Diploma of Veterinary Bioscience at the School of Life Sciences & Chemical Technology, Ngee Ann Polytechnic as a lecturer.
