All you need to know on how to screen and assess young children using appropriate standardised and non-standardised screening tools and practices in order to collect useful data, with guidance from our experienced lecturers.
Apply Skills
Acquire knowledge and skills in connecting with stakeholders in the field and gathering information for the purpose of holistic intervention design and delivery. Practical skills in communicating and collaborating with relevant stakeholders will also be developed.
Get Hired
The course is suitable for pre-school educators who have been practising as an early childhood educator for at least two years and wish to pursue a career as a Learning Support Educator (LSEd) under the Development Support Programme (DSP). Interested candidates are required to apply for a LSEd position with either PCF or NTUC First Campus.

Assessment Tutorial Participation, Practical Sessions and Continuous Assessments

* ​Preschool educators recruited and sponsored by an approved Developed Support Programme (DSP) centre will be given priority to the Post-Diploma Certificate in Learning Support Practice (PDC2 of SDELS). These candidates will enjoy a one-off support of $3,300 (GST excluded) for the one-to-one supervised practicum in PDC2 by their employers. All other candidates will need to pay for this component in addition to the course fee. ​

What You Will Learn
You are required to complete 2 post-diploma certificates within a two-year validity period to be awarded the Specialist Diploma qualification.
Foundations of Learning Support in Pre-schools

Study the principles of early childhood screening and assessment and work with specialist professionals towards intervention planning and focus on curriculum adaption which can be administered during pull-out or in-class support.

Learning Support Practice

Attain proficiency in identifying children who may have mild developmental needs by administrating screening tools. Develop process and practical knowledge in the areas of Language, Literacy, Social Skills, and Handwriting in order to better support learners who have developmental needs in these areas.

Entry Requirements

To Apply for Full Course:

  • Have completed a Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education – Teaching (DECCE-T)

    • Have at least two-years of pre-school teaching experience

    • Have been hired as a LSEd under the DSP.

To Apply for one PDC only:

  • Have completed a DECCE-T

    • Have been practising for at least two years as an early childhood educator

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): RPL is not applicable for this course.
