What You Will Learn

This certification is to provide students with hands-on experience using appropriate Business Analytics techniques and tools to provide descriptive analytics to help businesses understand what really happened in the past and employ predictive analytics to guide businesses to take actions for the future.


Descriptive Analytics

This course aims to teach students the descriptive analytics lifecycle. Learners will learn to ask the appropriate analytics questions, identify and aggregate data sources and create data models. They will apply techniques to analyse data captured in these models and also create appropriate visualisations components to gain insights from the data. Thereafter, they will be synthesised into dashboards which will add value to business users.

Predictive Analytics

This course introduces the principles of data mining. Learners will learn about data pre-processing exploration and pattern discovery. Learners will also use a data mining tool to explore the use of various data mining techniques. Techniques used inn predictive modelling such as decision trees, regressions and neural networks will be taught.

Entry Requirements

Applicants with any of the following qualification are invited to apply for the course:

  • A Diploma/ Degree in any Business/Engineering/Technology discipline and;

  • One year of working experience and;

  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office e.g. Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
