What You Will Learn
You are required to complete 5 modular certificates within a five-year validity period to be awarded the diploma qualification
Electrical & Electronic Fundamentals

Acquire the basic concepts of electrical circuits, study the design characteristics of commonly used analogue and digital devices, and build application projects based on digital electronics.

Mechanics of Mechatronic Systems

Study external forces in two dimensions (2D) and their effect on rigid bodies that are at rest and in motion including practical stress and strain analysis of solid bodies. Acquire ability to apply mechanics principles to the analysis of mechanical aspects of mechatronic systems.

Microcontroller Applications

Obtain basic knowledge and skills in computer programming using 'C' language and use it to illustrate the operation of the microcontroller.

Automation & Control

Attain the fundamental concepts of industrial hydraulic applications to be implemented in automation and process industries and perform practical hands-on circuit construction and implementation.

You can select one of the following Modular Certificates:
Engineering Drafting & Design

Learn the principles and capabilities of CAD through three dimensional (3D) solid modeling of engineering components and assembly. Focus on hands-on practice for basic PCB design, PCB fabrication and technical writing skills.

Industrial Systems

Comprehend the core manipulating and actuating systems of both electrical and mechanical drive systems. Gain practical insight on both the hardware and software aspects of unmanned systems.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Applicants with any of the following qualification are invited to apply for the course:

  • The following GCE 'O' Level grades and with at least 3 years of relevant work experience:
    • English Language (Grade 1-7)
    • Mathematics (Grade 1-6)
    • Science Subject (Grade 1-6)

  • NITEC with GPA >= 3.5 with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.

  • Higher NITEC with at least 1 year of relevant work experience.

  • NITEC in Technology or Services with GPA >= 3.5 and with at least 2 years of relevant working experience AND successful completion of Bridging Programme offered by ITE.

  • Higher NITEC in Technology or Services with at least 1 year of relevant working experience AND successful completion of Bridging Programme offered by ITE.

  • Relevant WSQ Diploma qualifications (depending on sector, Programme & level - bridging course may be required) with at least 3 years of relevant working experience and WPLN (Level >= 6) may be accepted as ‘O’ Level equivalent English Language & Mathematics requirements.


Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
