What You Will Learn

This course is to train learners to assist in the provision of a safe, challenging, positive and developmentally appropriate physical environment for the learning and development of 7 to 14 years old students. The focus is on the holistic development of this age group of students and learners are taught to assist in the identification of strengths and areas of development requiring attention. Learners will create a supportive human environment and assist in the implementation of programmes that promote students’ physical, social-emotional and language development. Awareness of and responding to illness, accidents and emergencies will also be included.

Applicants must be currently working in a Student Care Centre (SCC) or KCare centre as the course assessments require access to the workplace.

Entry Requirements

This course is suitable for new staff in the Student Care Centre and PMETs who have recently joined the Student Care Centre with Secondary school education or equivalent with medium of instruction in English.

Applicants must be currently working in a Student Care Centre (SCC) or KCare centre as the course assessments require access to the workplace.

Important Note:
- Participants must be proficient in English (“O” level English Language: C6 or better)
- All lessons, written and oral assessments will be conducted only in English
- Participants who are weak in spoken and/or written English may have difficulties completing and/or attaining competency for this course
