The course will equip the participants with the clinical teaching/education knowledge and competencies, and/or advanced clincial nursing skills to guide, supervise, assess and support the nursing students in the clinical areas. 
Get Hired
The graduates will be able to work as clinical instructor in nursing.

(a) Graduates with the Post-Diploma Certificate in Clincial Instrutor Course for Pre-Registration Nursing Students will be able to supervise and precept only the pre-registration nursing students. 

(b) Graduates with the Specialist Diploma in Clinical Education or Post-Diploma Certificate in Clinical Instructor Course for Advanced Clinical Education Nursing Students will be abe to supervise and precept both the pre-registration and post-registration nursing students.

What You Will Learn

You are required to complete 2 post-diploma certificates within a one-year validity period to be awarded the Specialist Diploma qualification

Basic Clinical Instructor Course

This module is developed to provide learners with fundamental knowledge and skills required for the roles and functions of Clinical Instructors in clinical nursing education. The learners will be equipped with relevant learning theories, effective clinical supervision models, clinical education strategies, and student assessment and evaluation.

Advanced Clinical Instructor Course

This module aims to equip the learners with knowledge and skills in facilitating the advanced clinical skills at the post-registration nursing level, or for the continuing education and training (CET) nursing students. The learners will apply what they have learned to the clinical practicum module – ‘Clinical Practicum in Clinical Education 2’.

Entry Requirements

Applicants with any of the following qualifications are invited to apply for the course:

(a) Entry requirements for the course (Post-Diploma Certificate 1 and Post¬ Diploma Certificate 2) (PDC 1 and PDC 2)

  • Be a Registered Nurse (RN) practising in the clinical setting

  • Have an advanced diploma or post-graduate diploma in nursing and/ or a nursing degree

  • Have a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience

  • Have 2 years post-advanced diploma/ post-graduate diploma work experience

  • Be supported or sponsored by the employer

(b) Entry requirements for applicants who wish to take Post-Diploma Certificate 1 (PDC 1) only

  • Be a Registered Nurse (RN) currently practising in a clinical setting

  •  Have a nursing degree and/ or an advanced diploma or post¬ graduate diploma in nursing

  • Have a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience

  • Be supported or sponsored by the employer

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

 Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), RPL will be granted to applicants who have completed:
  •  A recognized Clinical Instructor (Cl) course conducted by National Healthcare Group College (NHG College) or any one of the Singapore Healthcare Institutions (SHls), and have worked as Cl. They may be granted exemption for related modules or PDC 1.

  • PDC 1 of SDCE offered by NP and NYP.
