What You Will Learn

This module introduces participants to the theories, concepts, insights and best practices towards the development of a strong foundation in social media marketing. Participants will gain an appreciation of key social media platforms and be equipped with the strategic frameworks and practical know-how to be able to manage campaigns and brand reputation on social media.

This module comprises the following topics: social media marketing concepts and theories, key social media platforms and their various applications, social media audit and planning, understanding audiences, content strategy, content development, influencer marketing, and traffic driving and acquisition strategies – with a larger focus on Facebook and Instagram marketing.

Trainer's Profile

Hong Ian Cheak

Cheak leads Council Consulting, a digital marketing training consultancy that helps companies build sustainable, scalable online ecosystems to reach their audiences with useful, engaging and decision-making content, anytime and anywhere.


A Mass Communication graduate and ACTA certified trainer with 10 years of experience in writing and digital marketing both in-house and for agencies, Cheak’s clients range from SMEs to MNCs, including brands like Emerson, Bata, Julie’s Biscuits, NCS, The Golden Duck and Trinity Medical. He works closely with upper to top level management to initiate campaigns reaching tens of millions of people within Singapore and throughout the Asia Pacific region, while training their employees to sustain and grow these initiatives, having managed at least S$5 million in digital advertising revenue to-date.


Cheak has conducted trainings at various Institutes of Higher Learning, both public and private. His skill set covers the broad digital spectrum including Search Engine Marketing, Copywriting, Content Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Web Analytics, Display & Search Advertising Campaign Management & Optimisation, Conversion Optimisation, UX/UI Consulting and Web Development Project Management.
