Diploma in Engineering(Building Services & Fire Safety)
From preparing (AEC) CAD drawings to evaluating and predicting of fire situations,
you will also learn how to design, install and maintain air-conditioning and
mechanical ventilation, electrical and fire protection systems in buildings.

Attain knowledge of how electricity is being generated, transmitted and consumed. Understand theories behind the design, construction, operation and maintenance of electrical services and intelligent building systems.
Study basic principles of refrigeration cycles and air distribution systems. Understand the design, installation, operation and maintenance of air-conditioning systems and pipe services in buildings.
Build two-dimensional Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) CAD drawings using AutoCAD. Learn the rudiments of building and engineering project management.
Gain insights into firefighting strategy and investigation techniques in fire safety. Understand the principles, legislation and regulatory requirements and management behind the passive and active fire safety measures in Singapore buildings.
Identify factors affecting the development of fire and fire hazards of smoke. Acquire skill to design, install and maintain fire protection systems in buildings. Use various types of computational tools for evaluation, simulation and prediction of fire situations.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
