Course Description

This workshop aims to equip new and existing pet owners with in depth knowledge and practical skills on how to provide nutritional care for their pets to ensure that each pet is provided with basic nutrition and thus reduce the number of neglect and animal welfare contravention cases.

Course Outline

At the end of the course, the applicant will be able to:

  • Understand what is nutrition and how it can affect the pets’ life without proper nutrition.
  • Understand the appropriate diets for dogs, cats, and pocket pets (rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters).
  • Understand general health diagnostic tests in the selection of appropriate diets for pets
  • Understand how to perform a body condition scoring for your pet
  • Understand the difference between the different diets sold for pets at different life stages
  • Understand the difference between the different diets sold for pets at different life stages
  • Understanding the causes and management of pet obesity (e.g. dieting, exercise)
  • Understand the use of basic supplements to optimize health in pets
  • Understand the basics of common intoxicants and poisons which pets may be exposed to
  • This course will be delivered in English and has NO assessment.

    Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance.

Full course fee


Singaporeans aged 50 years and above who wish to apply for the course at the special course fee will need to email a copy of their NRIC during the course fee payment before the course commencement.

Course fee is payable upon acceptance. It is inclusive of 7% GST and subject to review.

Trainer's Profile

Ms Gayathiri

Gayathiri attained her Cert 4 in Veterinary Nursing in 2010. She learned about nutrition during her Veterinary Nursing course. Thereafter, she completed short courses on Nutrition to understand and increase her knowledge and interest in nutrition.

Gayathiri Is also a certified and qualified Myofunctional Massage Therapist and Animal Physiotherapist. Nutrition and diet play an important role in Wellness and Rehabilitation.

Gayathiri has been in the animal field for at least 10 years and still pursuing her interest and passion in animals by currently studying for a Diploma in Animal Hydrotherapy and Animal Homeopathy.
