Course Description

This course is proposed to equip dog owners with the necessary skills and knowledge to train their dogs using positive methods and to handle their dogs when faced with different stressful situations. Besides, the owners must also understand canine body language as it is important to have effective communication between dogs and owners. Dog owners will also learn how to cope with fearful and anxious dogs.

Course Outline

At the end of the course, the applicant will be able to:

  • Detect signs of stress 
  • Understand the fight or flight response 
  • Conduct exercises and techniques to help fearful dogs warm up 
  • Understand and manage resource guarding in dogs
  • Understand and manage separation anxiety in dogs 
  • This course will be delivered in English and has NO assessment.

    Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance.

Full course fee


Singaporeans aged 50 years and above who wish to apply for the course at the special course fee will need to email a copy of their NRIC during the course fee payment before the course commencement.

Course fee is payable upon acceptance. It is inclusive of 7% GST and subject to review.

Trainer's Profile

​Angie Tan

Angie Tan left her career as an Editor-in-Charge at an international news agency to set up Puppylove in 2001. She had travelled over the United States to attend behavioral management classes relating to dogs. She wrangled chickens in Arkansas with the amazing Bob Bailey, shared a kiss with wolves in Indiana, trained shelter dogs at the renowned San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers as well as at the Animal Behavior Center of New York.

Angie had spent weeks attending instructor seminars and workshops held by animal behaviorists and trainers like Dr Ian Dunbar, Jean Donaldson, Dr Raymond Coppinger, Terry Ryan, Bob Bailey and Susan Garrett.

Through her experiences, Angie had developed a sound understanding of the science behind animal training and constantly upgrades herself by seeking out new courses to keep abreast of the newest developments in the field.
