Robert Lin Yu Cheng
Chinese Studies Graduate, Class of 2011
Who knows a graduate from HMS can be working in the gaming industry? Robert shares about his project on gaming localisation with Keywords Studios company, as a Traditional Chinese linguist.
“Obtaining a Diploma in Chinese Studies was a prologue for getting my current job. The training in translation, interpretation and linguistics, prior to my degree studies, is highly recognised by my company.” Robert thinks that it is most rewarding when gamers show appreciation for his work. “It makes me want to achieve more. If there is a chance, I would love to work on medical or science localisation projects.”
The satisfaction comes in the form of knowledge for Robert. “It is not about wealth or fame. It is the knowledge I gain when I work on projects that makes this job enjoyable.”⠀
