Armed with a Diploma in Chinese Studies (CHS), you will be a cut above the rest in meeting the rising demand for specialists in Chinese culture and language.

As the first and only course of its kind offered at the polytechnic level, and with at least half of the course conducted in Chinese, CHS sharpens your language skills while preparing you for careers in the education, media, tourism and business sectors. As part of the programme, you will go on field trips to broaden your perspective of Chinese culture and society.

Choose one of three specialisations in Year 2: Education, Business or Early Childhood Teaching (ECT)*.
Real-World Learning
Work on industry projects and train at top media companies.
* The ECT specialisation is conducted by the National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC) in collaboration with Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) at the NIEC (NP) Campus.

Entry Requirements

FOR STUDENTS WITH O-LEVEL EXAMINATION RESULTS

AGGREGATE TYPE ELR2B2-A

Candidates must have the following GCE 'O' Level examination (or equivalent) results.

  • English Language

    1 - 6
  • Higher Chinese OR
    Chinese

    1 - 4
    1 - 2
  • Any three other subjects**

    1 - 6

You must also have sat for Mathematics (Elementary/Additional) and fulfil the aggregate computation requirements for the ELR2B2-A Aggregate Type.
