NP is piloting the use of facial recognition in some of its classroom to take attendance and to facilitate class management. Using artificial intelligence and data analytics, the smart system has the potential to explore students’ engagement levels in class through facial expressions as well as behavioural cues. Potential applications include alerts when unauthorized persons enter the school facilities, sensitive locations and school events. Security can be mobilized with real-time alerts and actionable intelligence.
