Awardees from Ngee Ann Poly received their scholarships at the Healthcare Scholarships Award Ceremony.

In recognition of their strong academic track records and a passion to pursue a career in the healthcare industry, 25 Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) alumni and students were awarded scholarships at the annual Healthcare Scholarships Award Ceremony 2023. Recipients will be able to pursue a diploma, degree or post-graduate degree in 13 health science and healthcare-related disciplines, both locally and overseas. This year, MOH Holdings awarded 161 scholarships,up from 120 in 2022.

At the awards held on 21 July, Minister for Health, Mr Ong Ye Kung shared, “By joining public healthcare, there is a great opportunity for you to learn, develop and grow your career. The public healthcare sector is such a big ecosystem and we need diverse talents.”

Nurturing Dynamic Talent

A career in healthcare comes in many forms. While many of our recipients are pursuing medical roles, some have chosen to contribute to the industry’s ecosystem in a different manner.

Siao Yu Xuan, Diploma in Accountancy graduate, Class of 2021, received the Healthcare Administration Scholarship. Offered under the Singapore-Industry Scholarship (SgIS), it supports students who wish to pursue a career as a healthcare administrator in Singapore’s public healthcare sector.

“My skills in accountancy are versatile and can be applied across industries. With this scholarship, I hope that I can apply my knowledge and skill sets to enhance the public healthcare sector’s performance by unlocking synergies and economies of scale,” shared Yu Xuan.

She is currently pursuing an accountancy degree at NUS and will be joining MOH Holdings upon graduation.

Diploma in Community Development graduate Seek En-Ting Keicia received the Community Care Scholarship. Currently pursuing a social work degree in NUS, she was awarded the scholarship that supports individuals with a passion to lead and make a difference in community care. Having always been keen on the social service sector, NP’s Community Development course allowed her to work with different beneficiaries to better understand their needs. Her final-year project and internship – during which she got to work with seniors – affirmed her decision to seek a career in this field. She looks forward to working as a social worker at Ren Ci Hospital upon graduation.

Establishing a Strong Footing in NP
