Smart Robot Using Lego NXT (AEM/NP/ EG/007)

Aims & Objectives

  • To learn basic principles of operations of sensors, motors and data logging

  • To equip students with practical skills to build simple robot applications using the Lego MindStorms NXT smart robot
Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module, students will be able to:
  • Apply basic engineering knowledge for smart robotics’ applications

  • To identify and select appropriate sensors and motors for the assembly of a smart robot through a hands-on approach

  • To use appropriate NXT’s code sequence to control a mobile smart robot

Teaching & Learning Approaches

  • Small group lectures are conducted to present the contents of the module to the students

  • Practical hands on and mini-projects form an important part of the module as they allow students to apply their knowledge and skills into actual practice
