Quote by PM Lee:
"We must be aware of our weaknesses too, and I would like to mention three. Firstly, young Singaporeans do not know enough about our own country, or what is going on in the world around us..."

The above statement by PM Lee served as an inspirational challenge to kickstart the SYM Conference.

Welcome to the Singapore Youth & Media Conference 2006!
The Singapore Youth & Media Conference ( SYMC ) 2006 is an international media conference organised by students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic's School of Film and Media Studies (FMS) for youths at the tertiary level.
The acronym SYM is a Greek prefix meaning together. The SYMC Executive Committee adopts this visionary term and aims for a successful Conference on two fronts:
-
SYMC serves as a platform for youths to come together to DISCUSS and DEBATE issues in a practical and academically enriched setting. International and local students from the various secondary schools, junior colleges, polytechnics and universities will attend the one-day Conference and present their views on the most pressing youth issues of this generation.
So join the Conference and let your voice be heard!

Objectives of the Singapore Youth & Media Conference 2006:
-
The Conference will be a highly-interactive channel for youths to exchange ideas and examine the changing character of the media and society, and its political, economic and cultural implications on society, from the youth's perspective.
- The Conference aims to provide a dynamic platform for media academicians, practitioners and youths to DISCUSS and DEBATE key communication issues that concern youths and to enable youths to put forward their creative ideas and solutions to their problems.
- The SYMC also complements the Media Development Authority's Media 21 blueprint by developing young talent and revitalising the industry.
