This guide deals with safety in Ngee Ann Polytechnic : a subject of particular interest to new students.
Why do accidents occur? Satisfactory answers are difficult to find, but the human element is a major factor.
Every accident causes suffering to the victim. Moreover all accidents waste time and money. The task of preventing accidents is therefore important to everyone. Major accidents are often the result of negligence. In general, accidents occur because people are taking chances, ignoring safety rules, and demonstrating a general carelessness and lack of interest in safety.
This is not a technical manual. It is not intended to tell everyone how to prevent every kind of accident that could happen on campus. The establishment of good working practice and the observation of safety rules are essential if accidents are to be minimised.
