UEC candidates are considered for direct entry to 2nd year for courses in Automation & Mechatronic Systems, Molecular Biotechnology (non-medical laboratory technology), Business Studies, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Marine & Offshore Technology, and Mechanical Engineering. In general, students must have obtained credits in 5 subjects including the relevant 'A' Level-equivalent UEC subjects to qualify for consideration. For Business Studies and IT courses, a credit in SPM English Paper 1119 or 121 is also required.

Notes:
 
(1) ^^ Applicants who wish to be considered for Biomedical Science (Medical Laboratory option) are to apply for the 3-year course. There is no direct entry to Year 2. At the end of Year 1, students may elect to enrol for the medical laboratory option, subject to selection.

(2) ^ Applicants for the Automation & Mechatronic Systems and Electrical Engineering courses who have colour appreciation deficiency may be considered for admission subject to an in-house test.

(3) @ Applicants with hearing disability should not apply for the Automation & Mechatronic Systems and Mechanical Engineering courses.

(4) # Applicants with medical conditions such as epilepsy should not apply for the Automation & Mechatronic Systems, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering courses
