Holders of International Qualifications (except for SPM & STPM) may apply through the Direct Admissions Exercise (DAE) via the Ngee Ann Polytechnic website. The DAE is usually conducted in Dec / Jan each year. Interested applicants may check the Ngee Ann Polytechnic website at http://www.np.edu.sg/admissions/apply/Pages/dae.aspx for more details.

3.       Can I use the TOEFL, IELTs or other English language proficiency tests for application?

TOEFL or IELTS scores may be used to supplement your application. However, they do not exempt you from any entrance examinations which may be conducted by the Polytechnic.

4.       When is the entrance examination for international students held and what does it cover?

The entrance examination is generally to establish if the student has attained the required academic standard and level of English proficiency. It is usually held 3 weeks before the start of term. Its contents vary from year to year and could be a combination of various subjects, eg. Maths, Science or English. It is mainly aimed at assessing the English proficiency level of candidates so as to ensure that they can cope with the rigour of polytechnic education here.

Due to the overwhelming number of applications received each year, only shortlisted applicants will be invited for an entrance test. Selection is based on academic merit and subject to vacancies available. Based on past experience, generally those scoring As and Bs (or above 75%) for core subjects stand a higher chance of being shortlisted for the entrance exam. Grades for TOEFL and IELTS do not exempt applicants from the entrance test.

Applicants will be notified through email should they be selected for the entrance test which is held in Singapore.
