General Guidelines 

        Type of Accommodation Available

Shared Accommodation
This consists of a room in a flat or house often shared with other students. Facilities and expenses such as rent, electricity, and gas are usually shared.

Room and Facilities
Here you are provided with a furnished room and use of facilities in a private home. You may use the kitchen to do your own cooking. The rental fee will generally include the cost of gas and electricity.
 
Full Board
This consists of a furnished room and use of facilities in a private home. Meals like breakfast and dinner may be provided.

Properties to Rent
Furnished and unfurnished flats and houses are also listed. The rent will depend on the location, size and general condition of the property. 

        What to Do?

Decide on the type of accommodation
It is important to decide on the type of accommodation that best suits you. When making your decision ask yourself if the accommodation is suitable for studying.

Budget
Check that the cost of your accommodation is well within your budget. Avoid a situation when you are stressed with financial problems.

Distance
It is advisable to find accommodation that does not require you to do too much travelling to get to the Polytechnic. The areas to consider are Bukit Timah, Jurong, Clementi, Bukit Batok and Toh Yi.
