It is compulsory for all final year students to attempt the NAPFA test before graduating.

The results of the NAPFA test will be reflected in the students' academic transcripts. The tests are conducted throughout the year and students can register for the test at the SDAR Office at Blk 16 #03-12.

The test batteries consist of :

  1. The Five Test Stations — 4 x 10 metre Shuttle Run, Sit and Reach Forward, Sit-ups, Standing Broad Jump and 30 seconds Pull-up for men and Inclined Pull-up for ladies; and
  2. 2.4 km Run-Walk

The students will attempt all test stations and 2.4 km Run-Walk on the same day.

NAPFA Test for National Service Pre-Enlistees

Under MINDEF's improved Basic Military Training (BMT) Programme, all combat fit pre-enlistees who attained at least the Silver Award or better in the NAPFA Test, are given a two-month National Service reduction and will attend the three-month BMT Programme.

Ngee Ann, together with the Central Manpower Base (CMPB) will publish NAPFA Test dates available in the Polytechnic to all combat fit pre-enlistees. These dates usually range from November to April, and may, at times, be scheduled in May as well.

Those who do not attain the minimum standard will be required to attend the two-month Physical Training Phase (PTP) prior to their BMT.

NAPFA Training Sessions
Students can approach the SDAR staff for assistance in the area of NAPFA Training. The Student Development Officers will offer training tips and help students identify the areas for personal improvement. Training demonstrations and NAPFA preparation talks are also conducted throughout the academic year by SDAR.

Students are advised to look out for notices and details of these 'self-help' sessions, and are required to sign-up for these sessions at SDAR. For more information, students can see or call Mr. Alfred Chan (at 6460 8636) or email him at cwl3@np.edu.sg.
