Listening to our Students

The NP IDEAS (Innovative Developments and Enterprising Actions by Students) at http://www.np.edu.sg/studenthome serves as an online database to receive students’ suggestions.

You may choose to make suggestions in variety of areas such as curriculum, communication, co-curricular activities, attachment programmes, student services or facilities and environment to improve NP services and products.

The NP IDEAS also serves as an educational tool to foster a productivity and quality mindset among students by engaging them in problem solving activities. You can look forward to receive gift incentives and recognition for your constructive suggestions when you participate in NP IDEAS.

So if you have an idea that can help make NP a better place, contribute your suggestions at http://www.np.edu.sg/studenthome.

About Planning & Projects Office

The Planning & Projects Office (PPO) supports senior management in facilitating the overall growth and development of the polytechnic and enhancing organisational effectiveness.

Teaching & Learning Centre

Many of the activities of the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) are targetted at and tailored for Ngee Ann's teaching staff with the primary aim of helping your lecturers and tutors help you learn more effectively.

The Centre conducts a range of educational staff development activities throughout the year for your lecturers and tutors. These activities include training programmes, seminars, talks, and projects. The Centre keeps abreast of student needs, preferences, and experiences through a number of channels such as conducting feedback surveys, student focus group discussions on particular aspects of learning, student panel discussions on teaching and learning, and even lesson observations where we sit in on your classes to observe and analyse the learning that is taking place.

In your time at Ngee Ann, you will have the opportunity to be part of one or some of these activities aimed at gathering student feedback on teaching.

Student Feedback on Teaching

Ngee Ann Polytechnic is committed to ensuring high standards of teaching. Your School will do this in a number of ways including obtaining student feedback through surveys.

During each semester, you will be given an opportunity to provide feedback on your lecturers and tutors by completing the "Student Evaluation of Teaching" (SET) form. The SET exercise provides your lecturers and tutors with feedback on their effectiveness in helping you learn.

Your objective and honest response to the questions is therefore critical as it will help your lecturers and tutors create a better teaching and learning environment for you. Your feedback is valuable and will be kept confidential.

In addition to the SET exercise, you will also be invited to nominate lecturers and tutors for consideration in the Polytechnic's annual Academic Award (Teaching) Selection Exercise. This Award recognises academic staff for their efforts at achieving excellence in teaching. The Polytechnic values your contribution to the nomination process for this Award.
