About Us
The Design & Rapid Prototyping Centre (DRPC) comprises a PDI design studio, rapid prototyping centre, rapid tooling workshop, prototype assembly and testing workshop, plastic injection moulding and machining workshop and final-year project rooms.
The Centre was setup in 1997 with its first acquistion of StereoLithography Apparatus or SLA machine in the Polytechnic.
The major facilities now include three rapid prototyping machines, namely SLA, Fused Deposition Modeling or FDM and Z Corporation (colour power-based machine). Other supporting equipment includes rubber moulding equipment, computer numerical-controlled (CNC) machines, Sumitomo plastic injection moulding machine, blowing machine, compression moulding machine, laser cutting machine, vacuum forming machine and thermoforming centre. The Centre has also successfully built its own RP machine developed jointly with Final Year Project students. Sample of which is as shown below:
