Overview |
Participating in the F1 in Schools - The Singapore Challenge is easy.
This page will guide you through the processes of building and racing
your F1 model cars:

Team Formation
|
1. Each school is allowed to enter 3 teams to the competition. 2. The team can comprise up to 5 members taking on the roles of:
- Team Leader
- Design Engineer
- Manufacturing Engineer
- Graphics Designer
- Racer

Design and Refinements
|
1. Each team can submit 2 car designs. 2. Design your F1 car using a computer aided design (CAD) software - e.g. ProDesktop. 3. Teams are allowed to use own wheels, wheel shaft and bearings. 4. Verify your design against the requirements in the D-Type Specifications, e.g. critical dimensions and minimum weight. 5. Send your CAD files to us - in Pro/Engineer, Pro/Desktop or standard formats (STEP or IGES). |
Manufacture (by Ngee Ann Polytechnic)

1. Fabrication of the cars will be done by Ngee Ann Polytechnic. 2. Car kits will be provided - max 6 per school. 3. After completion, arrange to collect back the cars (bodies only).

Finishing and Touching Up
|
1. Touching up of the car includes sanding and patching up - to improve it's aerodynamics and appearance. 2. Finishing up the model car with paint and artworks.

Preliminary Race and Wind Tunnel Test
|
1. Book a session for the Preliminary Race for your school (see Competition Format). 2. Bring along your finished car bodies. 3. Officials will assist to install the wheel shafts and wheels. 4. Weight of the car will be checked. 5. Aerodynamic drag of the car will be measured inside a wind tunnel. 6. See your cars take off on the race track! 7. The track time will be recorded. 8. Fastest car in the Preliminary Race will be used in the Finals.

Booth Decorations
|
1. Booth dimensions are given here (approximate). 2. Design and print posters using given templates. 3. Points will be given to Team with elements of sponsorships. 4. Set up booth on the day of the Finals before 1pm. 5. Pitch your marketing skills to convince the panel of judges of your designs.

Race
|
1. Register your Team and fastest car on the Finals. Caging of car to be done by 1pm. 2. Wait for your turn to take centre stage. 3. See Competition Format for the Fastest Car Race. 4. Enjoy the adrenalin rush to the finish line!

Supporters
|
1. Don't forget to rally all your schools friends to cheer for you.
2. Transportation will be provide to fetch them to the Finals venue -
Ngee Ann Polytechnic Convention Centre. 3. Lunch will be provided as well. 4. Supporters with the best cheers will be awarded with prizes.
