F1 in Schools - The Singapore Challenge
23 July 2008
The 2008 competition blasted off in darkness for the very first time, in tune with our first Singapore F1 Night Race. The competition was flagged off by Mr Chia Mia Chiang, Principal Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

The students took turns to race their model cars to the cheers of 1,500 supporters.

The Guest of Honour for the event was Miss Grace Fu Hai Yien, Senior Minister of State for National Development and Education, and member, People’s Association Board of Management.

20 teams from 20 secondary schools qualified for the finals.

8 teams from T-Net Clubs were also racing their model F1 cars in a separate category for the first time. This was in line with the PAYM’s aim of generating the F1 buzz among the community through activities such as go-kart races and a national art competition for young children to express their vision for F1 in Singapore.

The all girls team from Nanyang Girls' High School won the Overall Champion.
