Overview
The F1 in Schools - The Singapore Challenge 2009 comprises of the following categories:

1. Best Engineered Car
2. Best Marketing / Sponsorship
3. Fastest Car Race
4. Best Cheering (for School Supporters)

The Team with the best rankings of Best Engineered Car, Best Marketing / Sponsorship and Fastest Car Race will be the Overall Champion. In the event of a tie, the Team with the best Fastest Car Race result will be the Overall Champion.

Decisions of the judges are final.
 
Preliminary Race
1. Each school is to conduct the Preliminary Race among its own teams in Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
2. Booking can be made at least one working day in advance with:

  • Available Days: Mon – Fri
  • Available Times: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (lunch 12:00 – 1:00pm)
3. During the Preliminary Race, the Officials will take the following measurements: 4. The best race time car will be selected to represent the school in the Finals.
 
Best Engineered Car
1. The Best Engineered Car is judged based the following criteria:
  • Wind tunnel test
  • Car shape - CAD Model assessed by a panel of judges
Best Marketing / Sponsorship - Finals
 1. Judging will be based on the following criteria:
  • Booth decoration
  • Car models display
  • Evidence of sponsorship efforts
2. Each school has to decorate the exhibition booth in the morning of the Finals and must be completed by 1:00 pm.
3. A panel of judges will assess the booth.

 Fastest Car Race - Finals
1. Teams to register and cage their cars by 1:00 pm.
2. Each school is to register the best race time car selected from the preliminary round held earlier.
3. Two teams will race their F1 cars together.
4. They will select either Lane 1 or 2 by the toss of a coin.
5. Race Officials will give signal to start the race.
6. Racers will observe the light signals given:

   
 
7. The Racer can only trigger after all the lights are extinguished; else it is considered a false start.
8. Teams may request a change in the Racer upon any false start.
9. The cars that are successfully launched will have the race time recorded.
10. Each team have 2 attempts. The best race time will be used to determine the team’s final position in the fastest car race.
11. Only 2 attempts are allowed, no request for 3rd attempt will be entertained.
12. After the race, the racer must pick up his car and to return it to the caging area till end of competition.
13. Fastest car will be based on the fastest race time.
14. Decisions of the judges are final.
 
Best Cheering - For School Supporters
Rally your school supporters and get them to cheer for your Team. Our judges will be amongst the spectators to look for the school with the best cheers and supporters.
