“Electrifying Connections” is a fun and highly adrenalin-charged competition specially designed for secondary school students to spark their interest in electric circuits (series & parallel circuits). Participating teams will be tasked to design and connect battery-operated electric circuits to operate lights, alarms and mini-fans in specific ways. The competition will test the participants’ abilities to think on their feet, challenge the participants’ skills and knowledge in electric circuits and encourage them to discover the versatility and importance of electricity in our everyday lives.
Brief Description of Competition
- Maximum 4 teams per school. Each team shall comprise of 4 members (max).
- Each team will be given an identical set of electrical components (batteries, switches, push buttons, alarms, lamps, mini-fans, variable resistor, relays and timer delay relays) and any other necessary materials. No self-furnished materials are allowed.
- Each team is expected to wire-up the given components such that the lights, alarms and mini-fans will operate in a specific manner.
- The competition consists of increasing levels of difficulty. Each team shall progress to the next higher level only upon successful attempt(s) at the lower level.
