 Competitions for 2012 

SoE organises a wide range of fun, challenging and exciting competitions for schools. These flagships have become annual events that many schools look forward to. See the table below for the list of events during the year. The schedule may be subjected to change, so please check with the respective contact persons for more information.

National Airfix Aeronautical Modeling – The Ngee Ann Challenge 
Through workshops and a competition, students will be offered a fun-filled time to hone their skills at building model aircraft.

Inter-school Picomouse Competition
Students assemble small mobile robots and develop programs to manoeuvre them through an unknown maze using the fastest path.

Bull’s Eye Competition
This competition promotes strategy building, teamwork and creativity amongst students. Each team will work together to develop a robot and its remote controller using LEGO NXT® and then, send it on a mission!

Electrifying Connections
A fun and highly adrenalin-charged competition specially designed for secondary school students to spark their interest in electric circuits (series & parallel circuits). Students will be tasked to design and connect battery-operated electric circuits to operate lights, alarms and mini-fans.

F1 in Schools - The Singapore Technology Challenge
The nearest one can get to the real Formula One. Students learn to apply the laws of Math and Physics in an action-packed contest. They will be challenged to design and manufacture the best and fastest CO2-powered model racing cars.

Solar Racer Workshop / Competition
This workshop gives students hands-on experience in building and racing a remote-controlled Solar Racer. In the process, they will learn to build a control circuit fully powered by the sun.

 Marine & Offshore Challenge
Students will be challenged to design and build their own water craft in the MOT Water Grand Prix. They will also get to test their knowledge of ships, rigs and floating vessels as well as race remote control boats!
