You can, with the Diploma in Electrical Engineering (EE) – one of the most flexible diplomas that will plug you into a wide range of careers. Your training in electrical, electronic and computer engineering will allow you to manage modern power systems, as well as sophisticated electronic and computer systems. With electrical engineering forming the backbone technology of diverse industries like electricity, electronic, aerospace, biomedical, communications, arts and entertainment, tourism and financial services – you have greater career choices

In your final year, you can work on a full-time design project or join a local or overseas internship that will boost your confidence, and cultivate your innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.
Career Prospects

Upon graduation, you may apply for the Electrical Technician Licence, which is issued by the Energy Market Authority. This will be an asset when you start your own or work in electrical contracting business or join a variety of industries such as electrical consultancy, aerospace, media, and biomedical. EE graduates enjoy one of the highest employment rates and starting salaries. Many have since risen to managerial positions or become entrepreneurs.

Further Studies   

EE graduates can enrol in top local and overseas universities. Your diploma will allow direct entry into the second year of related engineering courses at National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University.

You may also be granted credit exemptions or direct entry into the second or third year of study for related degree disciplines by leading universities in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. These universities include The University of Manchester, Imperial College, University of Sheffield, University of New South Wales and Queensland University of Technology, to name a few.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must have the following GCE ‘O’ Level examination (or equivalent) results and fulfil the aggregate computation requirements.

The aggregate computation for selection is based on grades obtained for English, Mathematics, Science or Design & Technology and two other subjects.

** Candidates with English as a second language must have attained a minimum grade of 6.

Candidates with severe vision deficiency should not apply for the course. Those with colour appreciation deficiency may be considered, subject to an in-house test.

^  Interdisciplinary Studies (IS) modules at Ngee Ann help students become more versatile and competitive by expanding their knowledge and skills beyond their core disciplines. Areas covered include communication, entrepreneurship, lifeskills, media and the arts, and science and technology.


Diploma Plus Programme and Elective Modules

To complete the diploma, students have to take two elective modules and they can choose these from the engineering and non-engineering clusters. To qualify for a Diploma Plus Certificate, students just need to complete a total of four elective modules, with three from the same cluster. The Diploma Plus will better prepare students for university education and widen their career opportunities.

*  Designed in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS). The syllabus is based on the first-year engineering mathematics and science curricula of NUS.


Engineering students can also pursue Diploma Plus Certificates in Business, Innovation & Enterprise, and Foreign Languages, which are offered by other academic schools in Ngee Ann.
