About the Diploma

Bowled over by the sexy iPhone and its innovative touch screen function? If you want to design the next big thing that takes the world by storm, then start by signing up for the Diploma in Product Design & Innovation (PDI)!

This diploma’s unique product design approach integrates major aspects of product design – art, engineering and business – and as a result, you will learn all about creating products that look good, work well and sell well.

It also means that you will learn the entire lifecycle of a product; from how it is designed, manufactured and marketed to how it is sold and serviced. This comprehensive curriculum will give you a key advantage over conventional product design or industrial design courses!

You will also get to fine-tune your skills through local and overseas internships with industry players such as Singapore Mint, ST Kinetics, Promode Design, Jiangnan University (China), ChaoYang University (Taiwan) and ODM Asia (Hong Kong).

Finally, you will get to work on two major design projects and graduate with an innovative design portfolio, complete with working prototype and business plan.

Career Prospects

Truly exciting job prospects are in store for PDI graduates.

Singapore is home to the regional headquartersof many high-technology product design and manufacturing plants. Companies such as BMW and Philips Electronics have also set up design, R&D and innovation centres here.

In addition to product design and industrial design, you will be able to explore creative professions in furniture design, packaging design and product merchandising.

After a few years of experience, you could even start up your very own design consultancy!
