About the Diploma

World-class facilities such as the Singapore Flyer, Esplanade and the upcoming Integrated Resorts require a new breed of dynamic and technologically savvy facilities managers to ensure that they remain top-notch and attract visitors and patrons. The operation of such facilities has become more sophisticated with the use of new technologies. With the Diploma in Hotel & Leisure Facilities Management (HLFM), you will have the skills to help run such facilities.

You will be trained to manage people, places, processes and technologies in any business organisation. Enjoy a total facilities management approach in managing, operating and maintaining different kinds of facilities, from residential and business to hospitality and leisure.

HLFM is endorsed by the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore and Civil Defence Academy.

Career Prospects   

Under Singapore law, all buildings must be properly managed. With more new residential, commercial and leisure properties being developed every year, the demand for facilities managers remains high. You can find jobs as environmental consultants, project managers, property and workplace planners, or business development executives. With additional certification as a Fire Safety Manager, you can get an extra allowance.
Further Studies

You can enjoy advanced standing when you pursue related degree courses at National University of Singapore. For example, you may enjoy up to one year’s exemption for a degree in project and facilities management or real estate.

Various universities in Australia, United Kingdom and United States offer advanced standing in degree courses related to facilities management.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must have the following GCE ‘O’ Level examination (or equivalent) results and fulfil the aggregate computation requirements.

Mathematics (Elementary/Additional) 1-6
Science (with Physics, Chemistry or Biology component)
or Design & Technology
or Computer Studies
or Fundamentals of Electronics

The aggregate computation for selection is based on grades obtained for English, Mathematics, Science or Design & Technology or Food & Nutrition (Grade 1-9) or a relevant OSIE / Applied Subject and two other subjects.

* Candidates with English as a second language must have attained a minimum grade of 6.

Candidates with hearing deficiency or severe vision deficiency should not apply for the course. Those with colour appreciation deficiency may be considered subject to an in-house test.

Diploma Plus Programme

Students can opt to take additional modules from a wide range of clusters under the Diploma Plus Programme (DPP) to further enhance and/or broaden their knowledge in a variety of discipline specific areas based on their interests and learning abilities. The Diploma Plus Certificate helps students if they wish to pursue a university degree or increase their employability in discipline-specific areas.

Students can choose the DPP clusters from the range listed below. The offer of a DPP cluster is subject to the condition that the minimum class size is met and based on available vacancies. 

 

Engineering students can also pursue Diploma Plus Certificates in Business, Innovation Management and Languages (Japanese).
