 Diploma in Engineering Science (N93)

  • A premier diploma that takes you to university with a well-planned curriculum

  • Experience university life with classes and projects at NTU, and lab research attachments at NUS

  • Accredited by NUS for entry, with advanced standing, into their prestigious Engineering Science degree programme

  • Overseas study visits, early R&D exposure and internships at renowned universities and research institutes

  • Endorsed by EDB and the industry

  • Prestigious scholarships that put students on a special development track

If you plan to pursue a university degree via the poly route, the Diploma in Engineering Science (ES) is an exciting course designed specially for you.

With a curriculum designed in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), this premier diploma is dedicated to preparing students, with a strong passion for applied science and technology, to enter universities and eventually become leaders in the field of engineering.

During your first two years, you will be equipped with a strong foundation in engineering and related domains such as computing mathematics, applied science and research. This will prepare you well for a wide range of degrees and careers in engineering fields such as aerospace, nanotechnology, computer, electrical, electronic and mechanical as well as material science.

An Engineering Induction Programme will give you further exposure to various fields through industry visits, distinguished guest lectures, overseas study visits and short stints with research establishments and organisations such as SingTel and A*STAR’s Institute of Bioengineering & Nanotechnology.

In your final year, you will spend at least two days a week in NTU where you will take on projects supervised by NTU professors in areas such as aerospace, integrated circuit design, and material science. You may even get to participate in R&D projects from as early as your first year.

All ES students will also be invited to join an overseas study visit to prestigious universities overseas. There, you will get to interact with students and professors, and be exposed to the latest developments in technology and innovation.

WHAT'S XTRA!

Up to one in four ES students will be offered the prestigious NP Engineering Scholarship! This bond-free scholarship covers tuition fees for three years and includes a notebook allowance of $1,200. Scholars will even get to join The Christieara Programme and a customised engineering talent development programme!

Your Learning Journey

At ES, you’ll enjoy a slew of learning opportunities, both on- and off-campus, to broaden and deepen your learning.

Year 1

Build a broad foundation

Acquire engineering and applied science fundamentals through modules in Engineering Mathematics, Physics and Applied Computing.

Off-campus exposure

Broaden your exposure with visits and short stints at multinational companies (MNCs) and renowned research institutes such as NTU’s VIRTUS and A*STAR’s Institute of Bioengineering & Nanotechnology.

Year 2

Deepen your knowledge

Gain in-depth knowledge in various engineering fields through modules in Intelligent Control Systems and Engineering Design Practices.

Off-campus exposure

Expand your horizons with study visits to top overseas universities and institutions such as Tokyo Metropolitan College (Japan), Zhejiang University (China) and Tianjin University (China).

Year 3

Specialisation options

Hone your skills in the different technology areas by picking one of three exciting specialisation options! They are Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Automation & Mechatronic Systems. You will also get to learn about the latest development in technology, such as nanotechnology.

Study at NTU

Work on applied R&D projects with NTU professors!

Your Learning Journey

At ES, you’ll enjoy a slew of learning opportunities, both on- and off-campus, to broaden and deepen your learning.

If you choose to work first, there are good career prospects in research & development, product design and development, manufacturing and services, and more!

As an ES student, you will be well prepared to pursue an engineering degree at NTU. You may enrol into their wide range of engineering degrees in the fields of computer engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, material science, mechanical engineering, and aerospace engineering.

ES has also been recently accredited by the National University of Singapore for entry into their prestigious Engineering Science degree programme. Our ES grads will be offered additional exemptions on top of the normal exemptions poly grads enjoy!

You may also pursue a degree in engineering science at prestigious overseas universities such as:

• University of Toronto (Canada)

• Oxford University (UK)

• Pennsylvania State University (USA)

• University of Auckland (New Zealand)

• University of Hong Kong (China)

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must have the following GCE ‘O’ Level examination (or equivalent) results:

Subject
'O' Level Grade
English 1–7 *
Mathematics (Elementary/Additional) 1–6
Science (with Physics, Chemistry or Biology component)
or Computer Studies
or Design & Technology
or Fundamentals of Electronics
