Engineering With Business Management Programme (N71)

  • Up to 25% of the curriculum consists of business management modules

  • Choose your engineering diploma towards the end of your first semester

  • Nine popular engineering diploma courses to pick from

About the Programme

Who says engineers and businessmen live in two different worlds? Our Engineering with Business Management (EBM) programme is proof that you can be an engineer and entrepreneur rolled into one!

A programme like no other, EBM is jointly offered by Ngee Ann Poly’s School of Business & Accountancy and School of Engineering. With up to 25% of its curriculum made up of business management modules, it is an

alternative pathway if you prefer an education that is more broad-based.

With EBM, you will also explore the many fields of engineering in your first semester – that means you only have to decide on your choice of engineering diploma towards the end of your first semester!

As an EBM student, you will develop a firm understanding of a core engineering discipline and gain key insights into business fundamentals. Our business management modules will cover topics such as financial management, marketing, entrepreneurship and more. You will then get to put your knowledge into practice while working on your final-year project.

At the end of three years, you will graduate with the brains of an engineer and the entrepreneurial spirit of a true businessperson – something that will double your career and further education opportunities!

Your Learning Journey

Semester 1

Common Engineering Modules

You will take up common engineering modules that will give you a taste of the different engineering disciplines:

  • Electrical Technology
  • Engineering Mechanics
  • Computer Programming
  • Engineering Mathematics I

Choice of 9 Courses

Towards the end of your first semester, you will choose one of the following nine diploma courses:

  • Aerospace Electronics
  • Aerospace Technology
  • Audio-visual Technology
  • Automation & Mechatronic Systems
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic & Computer Engineering
  • Marine & Offshore Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering

Semester 2 Onwards

You will get to pick one of the following pathways, to add on to your course selection:

Minor in Business Management

If you prefer to focus on engineering and business management modules, this pathway is for you. Jointly offered by the School of Business & Accountancy, the Minor in Business Management will fill your curriculum with up to 25% of business management modules. These modules include Fundamentals of Financial Management, Marketing Fundaments and Starting & Managing an Enterprise. You will then graduate with an engineering diploma, and a Minor in Business Management!

Engineering Pathway

If you prefer to focus mainly on engineering modules, this track is for you. You can choose one of many exciting engineering specialisations in your second or third year and graduate with a pure Engineering diploma!

How to apply? (An illustration)

Keen to take up the challenge? Just indicate the course code N71 (Engineering with Business Management Programme) as your first choice during the Joint Admissions Exercise.

To improve your chances of being posted into the engineering course of your choice, be sure to put down another engineering course from Ngee Ann Polytechnic as your second choice.

Chuan Meng :Hey Samantha, I'm applying to study Electronic & Computer Engineering at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. How about you?
Samantha :I'm keen on Engineering too, but am not sure which course is best for me.
Chuan Meng :Then you should apply for the Engineering With Business Management (EBM) at Ngee Ann where you'll take a broad range of Engineering modules in the first semester, and then decide which area to pursue after that.
Samantha :Wow! Sounds cool! How do I apply for it?
Chuan Meng :During the Joint Admissions Exercise, just indicate the course code N71-Engineering With Business Management as your First Choice. Then you can decide after one semester which course you want to take.
