About the Diploma

If you’re interested in how the electronic systems of an aeroplane work, then you’re just what the Diploma in Aerospace Electronics(AE) is looking for.

As an AE student, you will learn all about aircraft electronics (avionics), flight control systems, aircraft navigation and aircraft communications systems. You will work on exciting projects such as designing airships with GPS capabilities and smart electronic systems.

You can then put your knowledge and skills into practice with a six-month internship with aerospace and electronics industry leaders such as ST Aerospace, Eurocopter, Thales Aerospace and Rockwell Collins.

You may even get to participate in internships, overseas exchanges and research projects with Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University in the US, the world’s leading aviation and aerospace institution!

Minor in Business Management
Delivered by Ngee Ann’s School of Business & Accountancy – the most established polytechnic business school – these business modules will equip you with what you need to be an entrepreneur, manager or marketing guru. Paired with your strong foundation in engineering, this optional minor will ensure that you enjoy a far wider range of exciting career and degree opportunities!

Career Prospects

Final-year project students working on biomedical industrial project

Did you know that over 100 aerospace companies serving global and regional markets are based in Singapore? With such bright prospects in the aerospace and electronics industries, you can take your pick from jobs in areas such as research and development, sales and marketing, engineering and maintenance support.

AE will also prepare you for modules in the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) Airworthiness Requirements (SAR 66) examinations so that you can get your licence as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer much sooner!

What’s more, you can even consider a career in flying as our curriculum is aligned to the Air Transport Pilot License (ATPL) ground examination requirements.

Further Studies

As an AE grad, you will be able to pursue an avionics or aerospace-related degree at the Singapore Institute of Management or one of these overseas universities:
• Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (US)
• University of Bristol (UK)
• University of Bath (UK)
• Queensland University of Technology (Australia)

Alternatively, you can choose to pursue electrical, electronics and other related engineering degrees at both local and overseas universities.

You can also apply for non-engineering degree courses. The Minor in Business Management will give you a head-start when applying for such courses.
