BE Alumni Chapter organized a cycling trip over the weekend of 25 & 26 November 2006 at Pengerang, Johor. On the bright and sunny morning, Director, BE was at the Changi Jetty to send off the group of 60 alumni and staff who signed up for the event.
A 45-minute bumboat journey brought the group to the small fishing village of Pengerang. The first stop was the bicycle collection point where the group eagerly tested their bicycles before making their way to the small town of Sungei Rengit. Sumptuous seafood awaits the hungry troop where they had a nice seafood lunch.
With the sea breeze blowing lightly on their faces, the energized group enjoyed the relaxing and quiet country atmosphere as the trail takes them through tall lallang grasses, oil palm plantation and rubber estates.
Upon reaching the idyllic Ramunia beach resort along the shoreline of Johor, the group took every opportunity to enjoy the beautiful beach just in front of the chalets where they were to spend the night.
Interaction and networking sessions with games included kept the group busy and connected till dinner time. With the starry sky as a roof and the pounding waves just at their feet, the group had a good time enjoying the sea breeze at the sea shore.
Morning came too soon and the group made their way back to Sungei Rengit where they had a good time sharing their experiences over lunch. Many also took the opportunity to do some shopping and brought back “big bags, small bags” of local products.
All agreed that it is an ideal weekend getaway to take one’s mind off a busy work schedule and brings one closer to nature, away from the hustle and bustle of our concrete city.
Feedback from the participants was encouraging.
