Our heartiest congratulation to the following 3 Commendation Award and 1 Merit Award winners from Mechanical Engineering Division in the recent TKKYIA 2009 Competition.











1. Commendation Award – Open Category

Project: Mobile Lumbar Traction Unit designed and fabricated by students Nurlina Fatima Shafrin, Nadiah Bte MD Zin, Chan Loong Wei and Soh Chow Hung to provide intermittent traction to relieve lower back pain for patients suffering from lower backache.

                               

2. Merit Award – Senior Student Category

Project: Dynamic Anti Spasticity Hand Device (DASD-D) designed and fabricated by students Heng Pei Ting, Goh Tong Lin, Nip Tian Yu Weiric, Lee Junyi for hand spastic patients to improve their hand movement, blood circulation and muscle tone.

3. Commendation Award – Open Category

Project: A Versatile Shopping Trolley for Senior Citizens designed and fabricated by students Tan Jui Ping Eugene, Wong Pi Yang and Weng Baoxiang on request from 60 year-old Mdm Estella Chen. The trolley is light, presentable and can be folded as a bag and it also includes feature such as a portable seat with toilet aid.

                                


4. Commendation Award – Senior Student Category

Project: Low Cost Head-Control Mouse designed and fabricated by students Koh De Shun, Ho Jia Xin Donovan and Tan HanXiong Danny to enable users with permanent or temporary hand disability to work on the computers with less efforts.  Head movements of users are translated into cursor positions, and mouse clicks on selected menu items are activated through a programmable self-timer, user’s voice commands or a foot paddle.
