 NP D’FUSION! – An Exciting Percussion Competition Awaits You!

Thank you for your submissions, feedback and inquiries. D’Fusion Competition is postponed to *April 2011 to provide you more time to prepare, practice and perfect your grooves.

All dressed up and no party to go now?  Hang on ! Fret not !

On Friday, 7 January, at the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Atrium, from 5pm to 6.30pm, D’FUSION organizers will bring you a special D’FUSION percussions showcase featuring performances by our student clubs such as the NP Baracuda Batucada, Taiko Drums by the Japanese Tsubasa Club, Kompang by the Malay Cultural Club and a special performance by Zidann Zalizan, a 10-year-old drumming sensation from Fame Music School.

D’Fusion is Ngee Ann Polytechnic’sofficial drum competition that brings together percussionists of all genres tocompete in a youthful atmosphere of creativity, originality and fun! We inviteall budding and talented percussionists of all genres to participate in thisinaugural event that will be held in April 2011!!


Competition Details, Rules & Regulations

D’Fusion 2011 is an open Team Percussions competition. Teams can play any kind of percussion music and style.

 

Do not restrain yourself as to imagine what percussion music should or could be. There are no boundaries as to what can be played. Just mix it up and groove away. Performers are encouraged to combine their creativity and strong musical sense to create a percussion piece with originality and filled with their own personalities.

 

Participants are free to make use of any percussion instrument, be it traditional, ethnic or alternative. The ‘Stomp’ element is allowed in the competition.

Age Restriction

All participants have to be full time students. Students awaiting results or entering into institutes of higher learning can also participate.  

 

Competing Team Size

2 persons to 16 persons.

$700 Cash + $300 Fame Music School Vouchers

Performance

1.                There are no restrictions on the genre of music to be performed.

2.                The Competing Team can decide their performance style.

3.                The Competing Team is to keep their actual performance to a maximum of 5 minutes.

4.                The Organiser will not be held liable for any injury, damage or loss to the competitors and/or the team’s instruments.

Stage setup

1.                The dimension of the stage is 24 feet by 18 feet (actual available size).

2.                Competing Teams will be given a maximum of 3 minutes to set up for their performance.

3.                Competing Teams will be given a maximum of 2 minutes to clear the stage after finishing their performance.

4.                Competing Teams will have to remove all their belongings from the stage after their performance.

 

Instruments

1.                Competing Teams are to bring their own instruments for the competition.

2.                Competing Teams are to submit their list of instruments 2 weeks before the competition.

 

 

Competition Format

Teams will proceed directly into the finals of the competition based on a first come first serve basis.


Registration

1.                The Organiser reserves the right to reject any application deemed unsuitable for the competition.

2.                The Organiser reserves the right to reject any incomplete or inaccurate registration forms.

3.                The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify the team if they are absent from the scheduled (if any) rehearsals.

4.                There will be no refund of registration fee in the case of disqualification or withdrawal from the competition.

5.                The Organiser reserves the right to restrict or stop the competing team from performing their full music item as a result of factors such as inappropriate attire, exceeding the stipulated time limit, etc.

6.                The Competing Team must inform the organiser at least 3 working days in advance if the team is unable to show up for any allocated rehearsal, audition or shortlisting exercise, or wishes to withdraw from the competition.

7.                The Competing Team will be held liable for any damage and/or loss of property provided by the organiser.

8.                Each Competing Team is allowed to register up to a maximum of 16 performers for the competition.

9.                Each Competing Team is to bring along their instruments for the competition.

  

Registration Fees

1.                A registration fee of $50 per competing team is payable. Please check registration form for details on how the registration fee can be paid.

Judging and Awards

1.                The judges’ decision is final.

2.                The Competing Team consents to allow the use of their names, pictures and other information without further compensation.

3.                The Organiser’s decisions regarding the eligibility of prizes are final. All entries are subject to verification before the prize awards ceremony.

4.                The Organiser reserves the right to change any rules and regulations stated without prior notice should the need arise.
