What's so special about Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Diploma in Pharmacy Science?

  1. The Diploma in Pharmacy Science is designed to provide a wider range of opportunities for its graduates. The emphasis on clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutics and dispensing is specifically designed to allow our graduates to follow career paths in pharmacies in hospitals, other healthcare institutions and the pharmaceutical sector. In addition, the course will be built on Ngee Ann Polytechnic's long standing tradition of providing excellence in Life Science education.

  2. The Diploma in Pharmacy Science is unique in that students will spend only 2 years undertaking modules at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. In their final year, students will undertake their course at the National University Hospital where their attachment will be integrated into their final year modules.

  3. In comparison with a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Diploma in Pharmacy Science has a much greater emphasis on pharmaceutics, pharmacology, pharmacotherapeutics and clinical pharmacy. The Diploma in Pharmacy Science is unique in that it integrates life sciences, chemistry and pharmacy. This integration provides more diverse careers and further education opportunities for our graduates.

Why choose Pharmacy Science?

  • There is currently a shortage of qualified Pharmacy Technologists in Singapore and this demand will continue to increase.

  • As in many other developed countries, the healthcare demands of Singaporeans are increasing and the need for prescribed medicines is likewise on the rise.
  • Our ageing population is fuelling the high demand for prescription drugs.
  • Our vibrant healthcare sector is continually re-gearing itself to meet both local and regional challenges and thus the rise in demand for Pharmacy Technologists.
  • With the development of the Biomedical Research sector in Singapore, graduates who are skilled, knowledgeable and able to integrate areas of life sciences, chemistry and pharmaceuticals will be in demand.
