Starting from mid-March 2010, the School of Life Science & Chemical Technology is organizing a lab enrichment programme for secondary school students entitled "The Science of Pharmacy - From Herbs to Drugs”.
The workshops will run from 15th March to 16th July and will culminate in a Drug Discovery Day Conference on 28th July. Click here to find out more about the conference.
This enrichment programme will consist of a short briefing, explaining the process of drug discovery followed by an interesting hands-on workshop.
Students will have the opportunity to have hands-on activities in the laboratory. They will first test herbal extracts for biological activity, prepare aspirin by the synthetic method and finally, get the chance to formulate medicines into creams and capsules.
The programme will be conducted from March to July 2010. The dates are shown below :-

The cost of each workshop is $10.70 (inclusive of GST) per student. Students will receive a letter of participation at the end of the programme.
