Singapore's position as a world class leader in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing has been enhanced with the setting up of biologics manufacturing facilities by multinational companies such as Lonza, Roche, Schering Plough and GSK Biologics.

In line with these developments, all Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering students undertake a year 2 module in Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing and in year 3, students can elect to undertake an option in Pharma and Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing.

Level 3 Molecular Biotechnology students can elect to take a biopharmaceuticals option which covers topics in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and drug discovery and development.

In their training, students will use the newly established state-of-the-art Centre for Biomanufacturing Excellence. This facility provides a unique opportunity for students to learn hands-on skills in the production and processing of these new protein-based biologic drugs.
