The school is committed to ensuring that students work in a safe and healthy environment and at all times.
LSCT's Safety Committee has established LSCT Safety Rules which all students and staff should undesrtand and follow. The Safety Committee also organizes a Safety Training Course for all first year LSCT students. The committee also conducts monthly laboratory safety audits to ensure that the safety rules are being complied with.
The Ngee Ann Safety Committee also publishes an NP Safety Policy Booklet and studetns and staff should regularly review this bookklet which covers the NP Safety Rules as well as accident and emergency procedures.
All students and staff are required to follow School'sGood Laboratory Practices guidelines. These guidelines cover safe and proper laboratory practices that must be followed when dealing with chemicals and biohazardous materials. In addition, all final year MBIO/BMS/HLM project students using the laboratories will required to read and sign the Handbook For 3rdYear Project Students. This must be submitted with the student's final year report. In addition reading, understanding and following Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) is an important aspect of working in a laboratory. Copies of the MSDS for chemical used in the each laboratory are available from the TSO in charge of the respective laboratory.
